Iggy Azalea is hitting back at the media for trying to make her and Britney Spears cat fight.
"I am honestly not surprised but still really saddened that the media is trying to create a "beef" between @britneyspears and myself," she writes on Twitter. "We remain friends and I haven't said anything negative at all about her. Does wishing we had promoted a single more make me the bad guy? I feel like the media wants women in music to get out and mud wrestle each other. As a woman, I take great offense."
The debacle began earlier this week after the Austrailian rapper seeded questions from fans during a Twitter Q&A, which included inquiries about her collaborative single, "Pretty Girls," with Spears.
"Its difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. Unfortunately I'm just featured…," Iggy answered after a fan asked why "Pretty Girls" failed to take off.
Fans took the reply as "shade" and Iggy then went on the defense.
"My comment is factual, it applies to any song. I don't have to suck the womans asshole 24/7 to be her friend, do i? bye girls," she added. "Genuine friends have genuine opinions. Its possible & healthy to have a differing thought without it being bitchy or shade. Im suspect on anyone who agrees with me ALL of the time; because i know i dont get it right 100% of the time."
The shade then went to new heights after Britney wrote a suggestive comment, which appeared to be for Azalea.
"Can’t wait to get back to Vegas. So thankful I have shows for the rest of the year to look forward to… #YouWantAPieceOfMe," she writes.
Tweets get misconstrued just like text messages, but Iggy needs to do a better job of handling questions politically. As you can see, honesty is not always the best answer, especially when everyone has an opinion.
