Last night (April 27th), R&B diva Mariah Carey made her grand entrance into Las Vegas, rolling up in a pink convertible along with a caravan of 18 trucks, each displaying one of her 18 #1 singles. The music icon was then carried through Caesars Palace's casino on a flatbed by a group of men Cleopatra-style.
Carey will launch her "Mariah #1 to Infinity" residency at The Colosseum inside of Caesars Palace next week (May 6th). During the ceremony, Extra's Tracey Edmonds caught up with Carey to discuss her new single "Infinity" as well as the rumors about dating Bret Ratner.
"Honestly, it's about loving yourself first," Mariah says of the single, which many claim is about soon-to-be ex-husband Nick Cannon. "Infinity is like love equals you first, the line, there's a section of the song where it's like a chant, it's like 'you're leaving, you're leaving, you're out the door infinity loving me more and more', meaning you have to love yourself first, it can’t be all about somebody else's thing or their issues, it has to be you and then you can deal with the rest of the things in your life…Yeah, we had fun with the lyrics, but I do that with a lot of songs…Listen to 'Touch My Body', listen to 'Obsessed', we go back and forth with it."
Carey also found the rumors about dating Bret Ratner amusing after she was spotted hanging out with the famed-director, who also directed the visual for "Infinity."
"Of course there were these rumors of our fabulous love affair, darling," she says, jokingly adding, "I want everyone to know that we're getting married next week, me and Brett forever, and ever, infinity and beyond."
She also took time to compliment her friend, insisting, "We're really good friends, he's super talented, and I'm just really proud of him and everything he's doing."
During the welcoming ceremony, Carey also gave attendees a preview of the music video for "Infinity," which one fan capture.
