Following the announcement earlier this week that Iggy Azalea is postponing her ‘Great Escape’ arena tour due to "tour production delays," both Tinashe and Nick Jonas jumped ship as the trek’s opening acts. Both singers will be replaced by new acts come September (2015) when the tour kicks off.
Nonetheless, Tinashe and Nick plan to still entertain their fans on the road in the coming months.
While revealing her exit from the “Great Escape” tour, Tinashe told fans, “Unfortunately I won't be participating in the Great Escape Tour, but I would never disappoint – I WILL be on tour THIS summer! DETAILS SOON!”
Along with the pending trek, Tinashe will premiere the brand new mixtape, Amethyst, on March 16th. The fan freebie will feature seven new songs, and will continue to showcase the singer-songwriter’s growth as an artist (hit next above/below to see the cover art).
Nick is also prepping a solo headlining tour: “Unfortunately I'm not able to join the rescheduled Great Escape Tour, but you will still get to see me this spring, details coming!” he announced on Twitter. Tour dates will be announced following Nick’s hosting appearance at the upcoming Kids’ Choice Awards on Mar. 28.
We’re still pondering as to why Tinashe and Nick would leave Azalea's arena tour for smaller venues. The "Fancy" rapper's record label, Def Jam, says that "to accommodate for creative team availability and tour productions, it was determined that the tour will not be ready this spring."
This could also be fancy words for not enough ticket sales, a current rumor, which Azalea’s rep has denied.
I guess we have to wait until September to get the truth!
