Philly quartet MPrynt continues their city’s rich R&B legacy by releasing their 12-track EP What If Later Never Comes.
When they released their single “If Later Never Comes” a few weeks ago, it was clear this project would be solid; with strong vocals on fleek, Budda, Rael, Tyce and Faheem offer up some contemporary gems (like the aforementioned single) while paying homage to their musical inspirations. True-blue R&B heads should notice some references to R&B classics like H-Town’s “Knockin’ Da Boots,” Tony Toni Tone’s “It Never Rains” and Michael Jackson’s “Lady In My Life” among others, and these many, subtle nuances keep you listening.
With MPrynt, there’s no designated lead singer; each member sings lead interchangeably. The fellas also divvy up songwriting and musicianship among their other talents; Tyce is masterful at playing the keys while Faheem is experienced on both the keys and guitar.
