Good news and bad news: the bad news is TLC is making only one more album. The good news is that you can be a part of it!
Using the newest fundraising method via Kickstarter, the remaining members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas is enlisting the fans to help fund the project. Along with the pic above, they tweeted, “It's OFFICIAL. We are making a FINAL ALBUM. We need YOU to make it happen on @kickstarter!!!!”
The goal is the raise $150,000 by Feb 18 (in the next 30 days). At the time of the article, the group has already raised $26,632 in one day! According to the campaign page, every penny will go towards the album’s creation. “The initial goal of $150,000 will go towards a writing session in the studio with a producer and engineer. The money beyond that will go to booking music producers, writing sessions, mixing sessions, recording sessions, and SO much more,” they write.
As a thanks for donations, goodies include a TLC digital scrapbook, autographed lyrics, photo shoot, listening party and more.
Chilli told TIME, “We’ve been so blessed to have a great catalogue, and songs that people love and want to hear. And with all of the requests from our fans wanting new stuff, it was like: ‘Okay, let’s do this one more time.’”
