Mariah's empire is expanding…she's done fragrances, clothing, and of course, music, and now the R&B diva will get into the beverage business.
Yesterday (June 10), Mariah and her business partner Kevin Liles held a press conference at the St. Regis hotel in NYC
The drink, called Butterfly, is a pink drink in a pink bottle, said to taste like a yummy, sugary juice drink. But it’s not JUST a drink: with an app on your smartphone, scan the bottle and you’ll be transported to Mariah World with exclusive messages from Mimi, videos, and photos.
"I have always wanted to do something with a beverage because I'm always singing — it's either gonna be water or it's gonna be tea…sometimes a splash of champagne," joked Mariah at the press conference. "This drink is really something that I actually like. The truth of the matter is, it's good. I'm not lying!" she said as she sipped the beverage from a champagne glass.
However, some lambs want the focus to be more on music and not on juice drinks, as they took to Twitter to voice their disdain. Mimi’s manager, Jermaine Dupri acknowledged the complaints: “Okay enough is enough!! I can’t continue to let you think, what you see or don’t see is a result of me not knowing what I’m doing, this is bigger than me and in the music business,” he wrote on his Global 14 website.
Butterfly will be available in Walgreens across the country and all Manhattan Duane Reade locations.
