Two years ago, Jay Z partnered with Budweiser to launch the Made In America Festival, a two-day music fest held in Philadelphia over Labor Day weekend, and this year, the fest is expanding to sunny Los Angeles, California.
Both the L.A. festival and its Philly cousin will take place simultaneously on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31, at Grand Park in L.A. and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philly. The news was announced today (April 16) by Jay, along with L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, Budweiser Vice President Brian Perkins, and Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino.
Standing behind a podium on the steps of City Hall with the other officials, Jay said, “Two years ago, this was a dream. I had a vision of putting together a festival that blurred those lines of genres."
Mayor Garcetti added, "We're going to celebrate our golden state of mind. L.A. is the world's music capital … the music industry has helped build this city, and the creative sector is essential to our economy."
No announcements have yet been made about what performers will grace either coast's stages, but last year, the Philly version of the festival saw Beyoncé, Deadmau5, Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, Public Enemy, Queens of the Stone Age, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Calvin Harris entertain 60,000 concertgoers. Fifty-thousand music fans are expected to descent upon Grand Park for the L.A.’s first go-round.
Tickets for each location of the festival are available at Ticketmaster.com.
