Sharon Jones and her band the Dap-Kings keep the party rolling despite the unfortunate circumstances in the video for “Stranger to My Happiness.” In the clip, the band keeps the reception hall jumping after canceled nuptials: “There was a man who had a plan to settle down with Mary Ann, but she left him on his wedding day,” Jones sings.
The video’s message of gleefully carrying on despite negative circumstances goes double ways; the soul diva is triumphantly fighting and undergoing treatment for bile duct cancer, but she rocks on regardless of her health situation.
“Stranger to My Happiness” will be on their album, "Give The People What They Want,” which arrives next week on January 14, 2014 via Daptone Records.
