Mayer Hawthorne’s new visual for “Reach Out Richard” is an innovative one!
Directed by Henry Demaio, the video includes short clips of various performances of his Pharrell-produced song, “Reach Out Richard,” from Mayer’s fall tour.
“I had the idea to create a circular stop motion effect in a live setting, thinking it would be an interesting twist on the usual live performance video,” said Demaio, who used footage from Hawthorne’s fall tour. “It sounded like a fun way to involve the crowd in the process, as well as possibly immerse the viewer in the live experience — almost putting them on stage,” he explained. The creative camera rig was designed by Z Design Studio.
"Reach Out Richard" is from Mayer's latest album “Where Does This Door Go.”
