After two long years, the case is finally complete, and the verdict is in for Patti LaBelle’s bodyguard, who was charged with misdemeanor assault for knocking out a United States Military Academy cadet in Texas in 2011.
Efrem Holmes was acquitted of the misdemeanor charge for clocking Richard King at a Bush Intercontinental Airport terminal after he allegedly verbally abused LaBelle and lashed out at her son, Zuri Edwards.
The Associated Press reports that evidence indicated that King’s blood-alcohol level at the time of the incident was three times above the legal limit for intoxication in Texas.
Surveillance video footage from the scene shows King approaching LaBelle’s limousine and having words before her son intervened – King then punched him, and that’s when Holmes approached and beat on King.
