Britney Spears' Las Vegas Residency Already A Failure, Manager Fights Back?

Contrary to recent reports, Britney Spears' forthcoming Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood is selling well -- according to her manager.

Hitting back at rumors that ticket sales have been terrible, Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph released a statement Tuesday, telling E! "This is the best-selling show in the history of Vegas!"

"We have a great thing going here. We have a great show we're putting together. We have nothing but greenlights ahead of us. We have amazing sales," Rudolph added.

As widely reported, Spears is due to kick off a two year stint in Vegas later this year, with ticket prices starting at $59.00.

Titled "Britney Spears: Piece of Me," the series kicks off December 27 and according to Rudolph, additional VIP packages have been added to comply with demand.

"There were more added because of demand," Rudolph said, claiming VIP packages for the first sixteen shows sold out "instantaneously."

Contrary to what her manager says, sources tell Radar Online that sales have been terrible, even with Spears' affordable ticket pricing.

"After spending hundreds of thousands on promo, they expected to instantly sell out all of the first 16 shows, but they didn’t come close!," a source told Radar Tuesday. "In fact, Britney only sold out three of the 16 shows put on sale and many are considering this a disaster."

According to the source, Las Vegas residencies in the past, such as Celine Dion and Shania Twain, sold out their first block of shows right away.

"There are nearly 50 shows a year and the theater is small…it only holds about 4,500 people," the source added.

As widely reported, Spears' deal for the residency is worth $15 million a year, totalling $30 million for two years.
