"New Day" served as Keys' first piece of music following the birth of her son Egypt, and it's also starts a new era for her, personally and professionally.
"I feel so excited. I love this song. It's about new beginnings. It's about fresh perspective and removing anything in your life that's trying to hold you back or take you down," Keys previously stated. "It's about living to your fullest. For you to feel the way I'm feeling, it gives me chills."
