This week's new albums are not quite Easter music, but they can be added to your playlist for the day after. Justin Timberlake, Brian McKnight, Jarell Perry and RZA issues new albums.
Justin Timberlake – 20/20 Experience (RCA) – Buy Now
Every album Justin Timberlake drops is platinum. Are you going to bet against him? “I don't want to put anything out that I feel like is something I don't love. You just don't get that every day. You have to wait for it," said Timberlake. The ability to measure the quality of work cannot be undervalued.
The “20/20 Experience” album is less pop than pass records, but all of these songs shows how diverse his music pallet is. This is evident is the lead single "Suit & Tie" featuring Jay-Z.
Brian McKnight – More Than Words (eOne) – Buy Now
‘More Than Words’ is the fifteenth studio album from the singer/songwriter Brian McKnight. Thankfully, the album is nothing like the widely talked about and highly controversial snippet for “How Your Pu**y Works” he released last year– remember that? It looks like Brian will be capturing his longtime fans with this record, reminding them why they fell in love with his music in the first place. The set is led by the sultry singles "Sweeter" and "4th of July."
Jarell Perry – Simple Things – Free Download
Until now, Jarell Perry was building his career with song credits for Fat Joe & Chris Brown; finally his solo artist ambitions are freed on ‘Simple Things.’ Perry has been teasing the release of his free album ‘Simple Things,’ with leaks of several songs including “Healing,” “Whiskey A Go Go,” “Getaway,” and “First Time.” The project, solely produced by Hassan, rest in the trail of alternative R&B, and is filled with a scale of colorful emotions emitted through each record.
RZA – Rza Presents Shaolin Soul Selection 1 (Soul Temple Records) – Buy Now
Though RZA’s discography is not filled with Rhythm and Blues credits, he has always pulled sounds and samples from soul records to produce Hip Hop songs. Rather than chopping up samples, the RZA curates a twenty-four track compilation with songs from the legendary label Stax’s vault. The Wu-Tang Clan leader selected Isaac Hayes, The Dramatics, The Emotions, The Soul Children, Booker T and the MGs, Albert King for volume one of the Shaolin Soul Selection.
