R&B was in full effect at 2013 NBA All-Star weekend in Houston, Texas as Grammy winners Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Ne-Yo lifted event-goers with their soulful offerings.
Alicia Keys owned the main event, performing at halftime in Sundays' All-Star Game. Rocking leather pants and a navel-revealing top, the singer-songwriter kicked off the show in true Alicia fashion, at a piano and leading with her hit “Empire State of Mind”. She then fallowed with a dancehall-tinged version of her single "Girl On Fire" before transition to hit "No One" and closing with "New Day."
John Legend got American and the 250 plus countries around the world watching by performing a soulful rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Although Alicia Keys headlined halftime, Ne-Yo's performance was just as important. The R&B crooner got fans ready for the game by infusing hyped-up energy with songs “Let’s Go,” “Let Me Love You,” and “Forever Now.” The latters also served as intros for the East and West All-Star introductions. Ne-Yo also participated in the celebrity All-Star game.
