Beyonce really opened up about the relationship with her father during both "Oprah's Next Chapter" and the premiere of the documentary "Life Is But A Dream" Saturday.
Looking over footage from "Life Is But A Dream," where she says "I feel like my soul has been tarnished," when talking about Mathew Knowles, Beyonce said letting him go, as her manager, was one of the hardest things she's ever had to do.
"One of the hardest things I've ever done (was letting him go). Someone you love, someone that's given you life… someone that did a fantastic job. It's hard. It's a part of life and it's a part of growth and I had to just tell myself at some point, you have to be the adult that your father has raised you and prepared you to be."
Even though he is no longer her manager, Beyonce still has a love for him that she can't deny.
"It was difficult and we both knew it was time, maybe a few years before. I love my father so much and he has taught me so many things. So it was something that was hard. I don't know what else to say. But I can say that this doc really helped me. For one, just editing and really seeing our dynamics and um, healing our relationship as father and daughter. This documentary healed me from so many things as scary as it is to know that the whole world is going to see some of my private thoughts," said Beyonce. "I feel so much stronger and brave. I've healed so much and I am a stronger person because of it."
