TV One Series 'Unsung' Proves Success with 3rd NAACP Award

The show that reveals the lives of your favorite old school artists behind the glitz and hits, Unsung, won the award for Outstanding News/Information (Series or Special) for the third year in a row at the 44th Annual NAACP Image Awards.

Chairman and CEO of TV One, Alfred Liggins, acknowledged the series’ success, saying “I am proud to see that the hard work of everyone involved with Unsung, TV One’s longest running and popular original series be recognized with such a prestigious and significant honor. This acknowledgement further affirms that our efforts to provide quality content to the Black Audience are on the right track.”

Unsung has covered the lives and careers of Teena Marie, Florence Ballard of the Supremes, Stacy Lattisaw, and David Ruffin among others from past seasons. This season, Midnight Star, Issac Hayes are among this season's content. The next new episode airs on Wed. Feb. 6 and will feature hip-hop group EPMD (Erick and Parrish Making Dollars).
