London R&B/soul singer-songwriter Hayley Cassidy is back from a three year absence from music with the free album "Stripped." With production credits by 3 Mindz and her longtime collaborator GKid, Stripped acts as the soundtrack for the strength to continue on after a relationship falls apart.
The "Stripped Intro" documents a montage of Cassidy's critics and her insistence to do what she wants to do. Then the title track "Stripped" rocks to an aggressive baseline and enticing chord progressions, that, in combination with her jazzy vocal delivery, results in a 90s-like groove. "Foolish" dismisses the players, and the reggae-inspired "Life After You" makes you want to happily dirty wind in the name of a dead-weight relationship coming to an end. "Sorry it didn't work," she sings on the short, final melodic tune "Wish You Well," which sums up the compilation by taking the high road.
