Kelly Rowland has had a big week, which kicked off with a tribute to Donna Summer at “VH1 Divas” Sunday. Sitting down for an in depth interview Wednesday, the “Ice” and “Motivation” diva not only confirmed a release period for her album, she also gave some tips for judges, like Nicki Minaj (“American Idol”), and girl groups coming up (sans Destiny’s Child).
Judge of Reality TV Judges…
“I’m judging the judges sometime. You’re supposed to be constructive. I think it’s important to be constructive. I think it’s important to nurture the talent that’s there, especially in this unique situation with “X Factor.” You want to make sure that you’re a great judge and you’re definitely making sure that all of the talent is being treated properly.”
Group Vs. Solo Act…
“When you’re in a group, you think as a group. When you’re by yourself, as a solo act, you think as a solo act. What makes a group so incredible as a group is when you’re thinking as a group and you’re not thinking as a solo act. If there is anything like that, that’s the weakest link. You will struggle and it will be hard.”
Michelle, Beyonce and Destiny’s Child…
“I’m so grateful that I was in a group with Michelle and Beyonce, who were just incredible. We were all team players and that’s what made us so dynamic.”
Return of the Girl Group…
“I think America is ready for a group. I think the world is ready for a great dynamic group who can sing a capella (and) who can kill it on stage the way I came up. It is time for a girl group. If the boy groups aren’t careful, the girl groups will shut them down. We got the power.”
“I’m actually wrapping up, getting ready to go to a mix for it. I’m really excited… I’m very excited about this album due out the first quarter of next year.”
