TV One debuted “R&B Divas” nearly two weeks ago as their most watched original premiere in the network’s history with 900,000 viewers. Originally touted as a show with the goal to positively portray African American women coming together, there’s a different story being told of the antics happening behind the scenes regarding one member in particular.
A source close to the show tells RadarOnline.com that the production (which follows the lives of R&B singers Nicci Gilbert-Daniels, Faith Evans, Monifah Carter, Syleena Johnson, and Keke Wyatt as they come together to record a collaboration album), is already thinking about giving Nicci the axe before filming begins for the second season this fall.
"Despite doing interviews with her whole message of positivity, Nicci was a terror to work with on the show," the source says. "Publicly, she says she wanted this show to be the anti- Housewives, but privately her actions made her a fit for Oxygen's Bad Girls Club,” they continued.
Producers have allegedly been meeting with powerhouse Kelly Price to take Gilbert’s spot, reports RadarOnline.com.
Gilbert is the show’s co-executive producer, so giving her the boot doesn’t totally alienate her from the show…she’s one of the shot callers! The network would "just pay her a producer credit and cancel her talent contract," says the source.
