Alicia Keys enters into her twelfth year since signing with Clive Davis and launching her music career with the release of ‘Songs in A Minor.’ She and her music have evolved from a college aged vocalist/pianist to a multi-Grammy Award winner, wife and mother.
Keys dropped “New Day,” her first single since giving birth to her son Egypt. The excited singer hit Twitter to exalt the news of her new record stating, “Here’s that first taste of what I was talking about… It’s a âª#AKNewDayâ¬!!! Let’s fly!”
In her video message, Keys shares why “New Day” is the first cut to be unleashed. “Everything is new, from being married and having a baby, and what that’s done for me in just giving me a sense of real stability, real connection, grounding, reason, and purpose,” she says. “So much of the music that you’re going to hear is talking about what that feels like, what we’re all going through, all of us … That empowerment, that freedom is definitely something that’s reflected in this album.”
Keys’ untitled fifth studio album, the follow up to 2009’s ‘The Element of Freedom,’ is expected to be released later this year.
