With her albums '19' and '21' selling like hotcakes, it would seem like putting Adele on the cover of any magazine would be financially rewarding. Well, according to UK Vogue's editor, the world most popular singer is "one of the worst sellers" for the magazine. The multi-Grammy winning soul singer appeared on the October 2011 issue, one of her first major print covers, but it didn't fare so well for the mag.
"Music stars haven't sold at all well," Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman
said. "Adele is the most popular woman in the world, but one of the
worst sellers we've ever had. I find there has to be a relationship with
the person on the cover that goes beyond how they look.
Adele is currently working on new music for a future album. She recently declined a headlining gig at Glastonbury 2013, with rumors of being fearful in front of so many people.
