In addition to receiving the BMI Pop Songwriter of the Year award, Dean and her co-writer Sandy Vee were awarded with the prestige merit as BMI Pop Song of the Year.
Dean has amassed a catalog of songs for pop icons including Rihanna, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce, taking steps towards a solo career. In 2009, she took her first attempt as a singer, releasing the single "Drop It Low," a collaboration with Chris Brown, that successfully landed on the Billboard Hot 100.
She took a breather following the single's success, but is now more comfortable in her skin as an artist. Her latest record "Gimme Money," is a radio friendly dance-driven synth track featuring Young Money artist Nicki Minaj.
