R.I.P. to the charts, Roc Nation signee Rita Ora shot straight to the top of at least two coveted UK single charts Sunday.
The rising talent’s song “R.I.P,” feat. Tinie Tempah, leaped straight to no.1 on the UK Singles and Urban Chart (R&B Singles) Sunday breaking a record previously set by X Factor judge Tulisa.
According to the Official Charts Company, Ora’s “R.I.P.” debuted with 105,000 copies sold making her the first artist to achieve such a feat this year and the first artist to nab two official number 1 awards.
“As you know, I’ve got my one Official Number 1 Award from doing Hot Right Now with DJ Fresh. But, this is a moment, because I have my second Number 1 because of you guys! You don’t understand what this means to me,” Ora told the Official Charts Co. Sunday. “Thank you so, so, so much for this! Me and Tinie and Chase And Status are all really, really happy. Guys, you are the best! And I really mean that. I love you!”
Ora is signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. “R.I.P” was written by Drake and produced by Chase & Status.
