Do you remember trading cards as a kid? According to Platinum League, it's time for a Hip
Hop series of cards with names like Mindless Behavior, Tupac and Diggy Simmons to
hit the market.
Set to launch May 1, the Platinum League Trading Card Series is being billed as "the
first ever interactive hip hop trading cards."
To be made available at Target, Walmart, 7-11, Best Buy, and other select retailers,
each pack of trading cards will include five randomly chosen cards featuring, among
others, Mindless Behavior, Gorilla Zoe, Afeni Shakur and Voletta Wallace. The
latter two have signed limited edition cards featuring their sons Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G..
But these are not just cards, according to Platinum League the cards will come with a
custom QR code that grants a fan access to download exclusive content from the
artist.
In addition to having their own cards, Mindless Behavior will appear in a commercial for
Platinum League that will air on outlets including BET, MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon later
this month. Diggy Simmons and Snoop Dogg's daughter, Cori B, will also appear in
ads for the series of trading cards according to THR.
Platinum League Trading cards will be priced just below $4 a pack.
