While news that Janet Jackson is no longer in the running for X Factor has been made official, there is good news to report. Jackson is “committed” to a deal with Lionsgate!
Jackson cited prior commitments including the studio and a forthcoming tour when closing off any further talk of X Factor Thursday. At this point it is unclear what her Lionsgate project might be however, the studio was behind her last three roles in For Colored Girls, Why Did I Get Married Too? and the original Why Did I Get Married ?. Jackson also has a film production deal with Lionsgate, inked last March, which allows her to select, develop and produce feature films.
Nonetheless, Janet Jackson was “flattered” to be considered for X Factor USA but said it would be “impossible” in a statement released through The Insider.
“Very flattered that X Factor let me know that I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn’t be possible,” Jackson said Thursday.
The search continues for the next X Factor USA judge (s) and host. Simon Cowell’s US version of the show returns in the Fall on FOX.
