A prison inmate, who claims Jamie Foxx and Tyler Perry stole a movie idea from him, is suing the two for $1 million each.
In the forthcoming comedic film, Skank Robbers, which stars Perry, Foxx and Martin Lawrence, the trio will assume characters from previous hit roles. Perry will star as his famous Madea, Foxx will bring back Wanda from In Living Color and Lawrence will dress up as Sheneneh from his hit comedy.
Shamont Lyle Sapp, who is serving time in Oklahoma for 10 bank robberies, filed a lawsuit, claiming he pitched the idea to Foxx and Perry but they cut him out the deal. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Shamont had the idea to unite the three characters in one film — but his version wasn’t a comedy about bank robbers … it was a drama about a mental hospital.
“A male white mental patient takes Madea hostage … He deals with phone calls from the negotiators, as Madea actually pleads for her life in a very sad tear-jerking way … Her pleas are to be very sad. No jokes at all,” the court docs state.
Shamont is also suing Fox Broadcasting and producer David Zuckerman for a total of $4 million in damages.
This suit may be thrown out quickly though since Foxx and Lawrence did a sketch of Skank Robbers at the BET Awards in 2009, which aired a month before Shamont claims to have pitched the idea.
