Grammy-winning Jennifer Hudson has recently revealed that she had turned down the lead role in 2009’s Oscar-winning film, “Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire.” It turns out that Hudson was not a fan of the requirement for her to gain weight for the part.
“I had done that with Effie….,” the 30-year-old songstress told Uptown Magazine on her decision to decline the offer. “I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight.”
After rejecting the part in “Precious,” Hudson took on a role in the first “Sex and the City” film, as the assistant to Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker).
“Precious: Based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire” was released in theaters on November 6, 2009. The movie starred Gabourey Sidibe, who ended up receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Actress as her role of Claireece “Precious” Jones.
