Without any explanation, international super-group Black Eyed Peas has canceled their scheduled performance at the upcoming Michael Jackson tribute this Saturday, October 8 in Wales. According to promoters, the group is “unable to perform” due to “unavoidable circumstances.”
“It is with regret that we announce the removal of Black Eyed Peas from the Michael Forever bill, but I look forward to a great night with other earth-shattering artists,” Chris Hunt, CEO of Global Live Events, said in a statement.
BEPs recent cancellation is one of the many setbacks that organizers battled but the show will still boast performances by Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Ne-Yo, Smokey Robinson among others. In addition, Beyonce Knowles has agreed to appear in a videotaped performance.
The Michael Jackson tribute, supported by the late King of Pop’s mother Katherine and siblings La Toya, Tito, Marlon and Jackie, will take place October 8 at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Brothers Jermaine and Randy dubbed the tribute inappropriate and ill-timed, due to the manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray. Sister Janet will also not attend the tribute concert due to the trial.
