New mother Alicia Keys has signed on to produce the Broadway play ‘Stick Fly.’ In addition to working behind the scene of the theatrical performance, she will contribute to the creative side of the production by composing original songs.
Alicia Keys describes Stick Fly, a play written by Lydia Diamond, as “a story that everybody can relate to. I’m passionate about this play because it is so beautifully written and portrays Black America in a way that we don’t often get to see in entertainment. I know it will touch audiences who will find a piece of themselves somewhere inside this house.”
The first performance of Stick Fly begins on November 18, 2011 at the Cort Theatre on Broadway.
In related news, Keys recently co-directed the Lifetime Network original film Five, with Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore. The film makes its network debut on October 10 and includes five shorts about women coping with breast cancer.
