After almost three months since cancelling her North American tour due to severe case of laryngitis, British soul singer Adele resumed her trek Tuesday (August 9) at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver.
She kick off her set by dedicating her song “Hometown Glory” to her birthplace, Tottenham, which was attacked by rioters following the fatal shooting of a local man on Thursday (August 4). She told the crowd, “I have to sing this one for my hometown. London is under attack by a bunch of idiots.”
Adele also paid tribute to her friend, the late Amy Winehouse, who died last month. Admitting Winehouse “was a big part of her life,” she sang a heartfelt rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love.”
The “Rolling in the Deep” hitmaker will be back on stage this Sunday in Berkley, CA. Visit Ticketmasters for full tour schedule.

Adele is back and ready to rock! After being forced to halt her North American tour due to laryngitis, the English singer-songwriter has resumed her concert series with a bang. Fans around the world are thrilled that Adele’s powerful voice will once again grace their cities – and they’re eager to catch up on what they’ve been missing out on. With hits like “Hello” and “Someone Like You,” it’ll be an evening of nostalgia for those who have followed Adele since she first debuted in 2008. Let’s take a look at how this powerhouse performer is shaking up stages across America.
Overview Of Hiatus
Adele’s North American tour had been going strong, right up until she was forced to take a break due to laryngitis. Fans were disappointed when the singer announced that her illness would be causing her to postpone six of her scheduled shows. The temporary setback caused Adele to go on hiatus from performing for several weeks in order to give her body time to recuperate and regain its strength.
The news spread quickly across social media, with many people expressing their support and well wishes for the ‘Hello’ hitmaker as they waited anxiously for an update on when she would resume touring. Then finally at the end of March, it was officially confirmed that Adele was back in action and ready to pick up where she left off.
Her return marked something of a triumphant comeback, with fans eagerly awaiting every show on the remainder of her tour dates – eager to experience all of the energy, emotion and passion which have become staples of any Adele performance. It was clear proof that even after such a difficult period of rest and recovery, Adele is still just as passionate about entertaining audiences as ever before.
Return To The Stage
Adele’s return to the stage was met with unbridled excitement from both fans and critics alike. Her first show back in Toronto, Canada on April 4th saw a sold-out crowd of over 20,000 people swooning along with her. Adele wasted no time getting into top form as she opened up with her hit single ‘Hello’ and proceeded to deliver an unforgettable performance which left everyone present awestruck.
The remainder of the tour continued much in this fashion; each night producing yet another memorable experience for those lucky enough to attend. Whether it be heartfelt ballads or upbeat pop tunes, Adele always managed to fill the venue with an electrifying atmosphere that had everyone singing along word for word. The star made sure to take care of her voice during these shows too, taking regular vocal breaks between songs so she could make sure not to strain herself.
In addition to providing audiences with some truly incredible live performances, Adele also used many of her concerts as opportunities to connect more personally with her fans. Through various stories shared throughout her setlists, audience members were able to gain insight into the artist’s thoughts behind certain lyrics or experiences which have gone into making some of their favorite records come alive. It is clear that even after such a long hiatus away from touring, Adele has lost none of her passion for performing – something which will undoubtedly continue to bring joy and inspiration worldwide for years to come!
Conclusion
I’m so pleased that Adele has resumed her North American tour after laryngitis put a temporary halt to the show. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster of excitement, disappointment, and anticipation for everyone involved in the tour. Now I can finally watch Adele perform live on stage again!
When I think back to when she had to stop performing due to her health concerns, it was heartbreaking. You could tell how much she wanted to keep going, but also knew that it wasn’t possible at the time. Fortunately, with rest and proper care, she’s able to get back out there and do what she loves best – singing!
Adele is truly an inspiration for all of us who face adversity or illness during our lives. She shows us that no matter how hard something may seem now, if we persevere and take good care of ourselves then eventually everything will work out okay in the end. I look forward to seeing Adele continue her amazing journey through music!
