Since her emergence onto the pop scene, JIVE Records has been coaching and molding Britney Spears into a megastar. However, as they say, all good things must come to an end. Spears recently announced that she will be cutting ties with her longtime record label in order to move to RCA Music Group.
Some weeks ago it was reported that Grammy-award winning record executive, LA Reid, will now head up a restructured Epic Records. As part of the record label’s effort to revamp their company, they will be taking on many of JIVE’s artists including Pink and Usher â who were both signed by Reid.
As a result of all the shuffling between the two camps, Spears is set to leave JIVE to become a part of the RCA Music Group family which was formerly a half of the RCA/JIVE label group. Speculations are surfacing as to why Spears and JIVE parted ways after a decade-long mutually beneficial relationship. Is there something more to the split?
Either way, this transition will mark an interesting time for the ‘Femme Fatale’ seeing how she will now be label-mates with longtime chart rival, Christina Aguilera. As Spears settles into her roll at RCA, could that hurt Aguilera’s chance at a comeback?
