Grammy nominated duo Les Nubians is gearing up to release a new album, âNÃ¼ Revolution,â April 19th via Shanachie entertainment. The set will be the follow-up to the French/Cameroonian sisterâs 2005 effort âEchos, Chapter One.â
“This album is a celebration of life!” explains group member Helene Faussert. “We wanted to bring and spread this energy, this joy in a time of uncertainty.”
Celia Faussert adds about the title of Les Nubians CD, “NÃ¼ Revolution: NÃ¼ is for New Universe, this new world as World Citizens that we are. And Revolution shows how we are in motion. In the word Revolution, there is RÃªve which in French means Dreams. The Evolution of the Dream, of our Dream for a better world, a better Self. In Evolution, there’s the evolution through Eve, the woman. We were princesses becoming Queens with Grace, Strength, Responsibilities, Unconditional Love and Care for our Community: The World, The Universe. We are coming Full Circle.”
For over a decade the beautiful sisters have charmed audiences around the world with their inventive and glamorous ‘Afropean’ style. Les Nubians sound embodies the timeless vibrations of Miriam Makeba, Ella Fitzgerald, Fela Kuti and Edith Piaf among others. Les Nubians has shared the stage with such diverse artists as James Brown, Jill Scott, Zap Mama, Chaka Khan and Lupe Fiasco. In 1999, their single “Makeda” propelled their U.S. debut album to the top of the charts making ‘Princesses Nubiennes’ the most successful French-language album in decades!
The Grammy nominated duo will play B.B King’s NYC on Friday, April 29th.
