A man posing as a booking agent for R&B singer Keyshia Cole has been arrested in Mississippi after allegedly attempting to con a student out of cash to set up a bogus concert featuring the âLong Way Downâ star.
Percy Pittman, 25, took a $750 up front booking fee from an unidentified student in Shreveport in December (2010), after meeting to discuss plans for an Aids benefit show at a local college. Another $6,300 was to be collected at a later date.
With smart thinking, the student became suspicious of the contract he had been given and called in officials from the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force to investigate.
The contract and the booking agentâs connection to Cole were exposed as a scam and Pittman was arrested at a follow-up meeting with the student.
Pittman faces a charge of felony theft and cops have appealed for any other individuals who have had business dealings with Pittman to come forward as they, too, may have been conned.

The story begins when hundreds of fans gathered at the venue on Saturday evening expecting to see their favorite singer perform live. However, it soon became apparent that something wasn’t quite right as there was no sign of Keyshia Cole. As rumors about the show being cancelled began circulating around the crowd, someone made a call to the police who arrived on scene shortly afterwards.
As it turns out, an individual operating under the moniker “Lemuel Farrar” had booked the venue claiming he was authorized by Keyshia Cole’s management team. It didn’t take long before authorities discovered Mr Farrar’s true identity – a fraudster with a lengthy criminal record linked to several other cases across North America. He is now awaiting trial as investigations into his activities continue.
Overview Of The Case
The case of a fake booking agent who was arrested for fraudulent Keyshia Cole event is one that created shockwaves throughout the music industry. This incident, which happened in 2018, involved an unidentified individual from California pretending to be a legitimate representative of the singer and trying to book her for an event without authorization.
The fraudster used this ploy in order to make money off of unsuspecting fans by selling them tickets to a nonexistent concert or meet-and-greet with Keyshia Cole. The scammer had reportedly posted advertisements on social media sites such as Instagram offering “exclusive” access to Cole’s performances at various venues across the country. However, when people purchased these tickets they were soon disappointed to find out that there was no show scheduled.
After further investigation, law enforcement officials determined that this individual had been operating their scheme since 2016 and had defrauded numerous victims over $50,000 worth of goods and services related to their attempts at impersonating Cole’s representatives. As a result, they were promptly arrested and charged with several counts of fraud and identity theft.
Legal Consequences
The legal repercussions for this individual were severe. As a result of their fraudulent activities, the perpetrator was charged with several counts of fraud and identity theft under California state law. This included both civil and criminal penalties which could have resulted in jail time if they had been found guilty.
In addition to facing potential incarceration, the scammer faced hefty fines that totaled up to $50,000 USD due to the amount of money they had scammed from unsuspecting fans.
