Nas is facing criminal contempt charges after failing to pay ordered child and spousal support to estranged wife, Kelis. Pleading not guilty to charges levied by Kelis earlier this year over missed payments, a Los Angeles judge has ordered the “One Mic” rapper to appear before the court next month (March). According to Kelis’ attorney, Nas is $200,000 behind on child and spousal support. While it is unclear just how much Kelis has received since their divorce proceedings began last summer, it has been confirmed that Nas was ordered to pay $51,000 per month to his wife and infant son in December. In related news, one of Nas’ attorneys, Anthony Ukran, told Judge David S. Cunningham III that Nas needed more time to prepare his defense, showing that he is unable to pay the court ordered support.
