Fans holding tickets to ‘The Color Purple,’ starring Fantasia can look forward to seeing the “Even Angels” singer Tuesday. Addressing concern over last minute cancellations over the weekend, Fantasia’s management issued a statement Sunday, citing inflammation of vocal cords. “The Color Purple regrets to announce that Fantasia will miss the remainder of this weekendâs performances of The Color Purple at the Pantages Theatre. Fantasia did not perform in the Friday evening show due an inflammation of her vocal cords, and this morning, her doctor advised that for the fastest and most complete recovery she must sit out the remainder of the weekend. She is scheduled to resume her usual performance week starting Tuesday, February 16th at 8:00 PM. Performances of The Color Purple will continue through the weekend as scheduled with an understudy in the role of âCelieâ.” News of Fantasia being sidelined came across to some as a “here we go again,” thanks to similar cancellations a few years back. Addressed recently on Oprah, those cancellations were blamed on a tumor lodged in the singer’s throat. Fantasia is slated to appear in ‘The Color Purple’ through February 28, in Los Angeles.
