Soulful singer Maxwell can jet off to the Grammy Awards with a smile on his face now that his 2009 effort “Blacksummers’night” has been certified Platinum ! Led by the singles “Pretty Wings” and “Bad Habits,” Maxwell’s album was certified Platinum by the RIAA earlier this month thanks to sales in excess of 1 million copies. His first album in over three years, “Blacksummers’night” arrived in stores July of 2009, quickly shooting to no.1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. Packed with nine tracks, the album is also the first of a trilogy, with its follow due later this year. As previously reported, Maxwell is nominated for six Grammy Awards.
