Investigators believe popular celebrity DJ, DJ AM died of an overdose late last week. According New York based investigators, AM was found dead in his apartment on Lafayette Street Friday, with drug paraphernalia nearby. Often recognized for his work with celebrities including Jay-Z, DJ AM survived a plane crash nearly a year ago with Blink 182 star Travis Barker. In an update Monday, a source, believed to be a friend, spoke with TMZ in an attempt to dismiss the notion that AM committed suicide after breaking up with his longtime girlfriend. Telling TMZ that DJ AM had become dependent on Xanax and benzodiazepines, which are drugs used to treat anxiety, the source believes the overdose, if in fact the cause of his death, had “absolutely nothing to do with his recent breakup.” An official cause of death has not been revealed.
