Britney Spears, Rick Sanchez and Barack Obama found out what happens when Twitter goes wrong Monday. According to an official statement from the social networking site, 33 accounts were compromised Monday, Jan. 5 including accounts used for CNN, Fox News and celebrities like Britney Spears. Entering objectionable messages like “I am high right now, might not be coming into work today” on some pages, the microblogging site says Bill O’Reilly’s account claimed he was gay while Spears’ page featured what has been dubbed a ‘vulgar’ message about her reproductive organs. “These accounts were compromised by an individual who hacked into some of the tools our support team uses to help people do things like edit the email address associated with their Twitter account when they can’t remember or get stuck,” the company explained. Barack Obama’s feed was compromised but only featured a link to a survey site. The company has taken down compromised support tools until a fix can made to prevent future attacks.
