While Ashanti is out promoting her latest album “The Declaration,” a recent release has been issued informing fans of a new album entitled “Ashanti: The Vault.” ‘The Vault,’ according to AJM Records features 12 never before released recordings from the Grammy Award-winning singer, however Ashanti is reportedly not promoting the project that is set for an October release. Penned in 2001 while the singer was signed exclusively to AJM records prior to Murder Inc./Def Jam, a number of tracks were edited recently including “Let’s Do Something” featuring “Low” star Flo-Rida. “Although the track is not like any other Ashanti song heard before, I tried to please her already established fan base by maintaining the classic Ashanti style while at the same time indulging a new audience with an upbeat, exciting feel on this upcoming single,” says Miguel “Migs” Baeza. Ashanti joins several songbirds including Christina Aguilera and Leona Lewis who have also had pre-label/pre-fame records released as an album in recent years. This is not Ashanti’s first pre-fame disc, in 2006 the singer sued a string of executives for putting out an album of her demos recorded in the early 1990s when she was 16 years old. Alledging invasion of privacy, unfair competition and trademark related claims for releasing the demos without her permission, the singer demanded damages in excess of $1 million. ‘Ashanti: The Vault’ is slated to hit stores October 14th.
