2016 was another year of great R&B songs. Veterans like Rihanna, Chris Brown, Beyoncé, and Jeremih continued their hit-making offerings while newcomers like Ro James, Tessanne Chin, and Anderson .Paak gave us beautifully crafted bodies of work covering a variety of topics.
After much fanfare and anticipation, Nick Cannon releases his new mixtape, The Gospel of Ike Turn Up: My Side Of The Story. The project features collaborating with several R&B artists including K. Michelle, Jeremih, Keke Palmer, and Christina Milian.
The song seems to be (loosely?) inspired by his current situation: he’s expecting a baby with 28-year-old Brittany Bell, former beauty pageant contestant and Cannon’s on and off’ girlfriend since 2015.
On the song, K. Michelle puts her new man on a pedestal. “These dudes mad cause they ain’t you,” she sings to her new booski. The clip shows the singer acting out her man’s fantasy, wearing strappy, stringy, bedazzled lingerie for sexy bondage action.
Last we heard about K. Michelle was a month ago when Radio One boycotted her music after she was a no-show to some promotional events, but it looks like Michelle is bringing the music to a city near you.
Michelle hasn’t had the best relationship with radio shows as of late. A few weeks ago, she bantered back and forth with “Breakfast Club” host Angela Yee, (which allegedly resulted in them puling her music from airplay), so now you may want to purchase all three of K. Michelle’s albums to hear her music, because you may not hear any on the radio any time soon…
Yesterday morning (March 29), K. Michelle visited Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club to promote her new album More Issues Than Vogue, her VH1 show “My Life”, and to address many other rumors she just can’t seem to shake.
The video features K. Michelle walking, bathing, and even drinking Jack Daniels in the rain as she reflects on her bad relationship. But soon, she steps out of the rain into a sunnier, new phase in life, allowing the rain to follows her ex instead.
